anessa Williams of "Desperate Housewives" and "Ugly Betty" seemed to really, really enjoy the Los Angeles Opera's opening night performance of "Romeo and Juliet" on Sunday night, as was evident when she shared a giggle with Vittorio Grigolo, the night's Romeo, backstage. But more to the point: We liked her solution to staying warm on a chilly (for L.A.) evening. Here's a surprise: According to a new study, the U.S. city that spends the most for clothes, shoes and accessories is not New York or L.A. (neither made the top 10, in fact) but Washington. Researchers at Bundle.com looked at U.S. census data, credit card company information and "third-party data providers" to determine that the national average spending per person per month is $142.08; in D.C., it's $263. Although L.A. didn't make the top 10, three other California cities did: San Francisco, San Jose and Bakersfield. Yep, you read that right.
